Two former Doctor Whos reportedly had a spat over Jodie Whittaker being cast as the show’s first female Doctor.
Speaking at Comic-Con yesterday (Thursday), Peter Davidson, who played the Doctor in the 1980s, allegedly said he “liked the idea” of a male Doctor and that he “felt sad” about the change in the character’s gender because they might no longer “be a role model for boys”, according to a BBC report.
Bucks Free Press columnist Colin Baker, who succeeded Mr Davidson, reportedly branded his remarks “rubbish” at the event and said someone does not “have to be of a gender” to be a role model.
Mr Baker suggested that young male viewers had “had 50 years of having a role model” and told Mr Davidson he was “talking rubbish”, according to the BBC article.
