A passenger train caught fire near Burnham train station last night.

The train, which was carrying 52 passengers, was in motion when the rear carriage caught alight. 

The fire service was called out at 11pm, Wednesday evening to tackle the fire. They were tackling the situation until 3am, Thursday morning. 

The train came to a stop roughly 500 metres from Burnham train station. 

A spokesman for the fire service said that no injuries resulted from the fire.

The fire service believed that overheating batteries had been the cause of the blaze.
