An aeroplane was forced to land in a public park in Booker today to the shock of onlookers.

Eyewitnesses said the light aircraft “narrowly missed” houses next to Fernie Fields before performing an emergency landing in the council-owned park at around 1.30pm this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Wycombe Air Park however the occupants of the plane escaped unharmed.

Rosalyn Piercey was walking her dog when the incident happened. She said: “It was very close – it was heading straight for some houses but it managed to swerve and miss them.

“It was really scary – all the kids came rushing over.”

Wycombe Air Park confirmed an aircraft carried out a “precautionary landing” at the playing fields, off Gibson Road, however is unable to provide more details until an investigation has been carried out.

Spokesman, Kris Black, said: “Wycombe Air Park can confirm that at 13:36 BST today there was an incident involving an aircraft which carried out a precautionary landing offsite at Fernie Fields, Gibson Road, High Wycombe.

“Emergency services were called to the scene there were no injuries.”

The Air Accident Investigation Board has been informed and Wycombe airfield remains open.
