Travellers who moved on to a popular playing field in West Wycombe last week are still there despite agreeing to leave at the weekend, the parish council has said.

They set up camp on the Pedestal Playing Fields last Wednesday morning, and reportedly told the police they would leave yesterday (Sunday).

However a statement on West Wycombe Parish Council’s website says West Wycombe Estate, who own the playing fields, are currently "investigating ways of removing" them since they did not leave the site "as agreed".

It says: “The parish council continues to work with Thames Valley Police and West Wycombe Estate to resolve the situation.”

The council said last week that the travellers had removed all three padlocks and one of the wooden bollards to gain entry on to the field.
