Kind-hearted staff from a healthcare company in Beaconsfield, are set to take on a gruelling cycling challenge at the weekend to raise money for charity.

A group of nine cyclists from Sunrise UK and Gracewell Healthcare's support office, in Post Office Lane, will take on a 67-mile route around the Isle of Wight on Saturday in aid of a cause set up by Sunrise.

The cyclists, who are a part of a larger group of 14 cyclists from Sunrise UK and Gracewell Healthcare, which manages the Sunrise of Beaconsfield care home in Station Road, are fundraising for the Sunrise Good Samaritan Fund, which has been created to “help team members of Sunrise UK and Gracewell Healthcare who are suffering from severe financial hardship resulting from a catastrophic event in their lives”.

So far the fund has helped team members facing eviction, and replaced basic furniture so that a family no longer had to sleep on the floor.

The group is hoping to raise £3,000 to continue helping its team members.

Suzanne Foody, benefits advisor at Sunrise and Gracewell, who is taking part in the challenge, said: “Team members are at the very heart of everything that we do.

“One of our priorities is to care for our team in the same way they care for the residents we support – and we do this through a variety of wellbeing initiatives.

“We are proud of all the fundraising we do – not only initiatives we have founded, but all the work we do for external charities.

“I know just how hard we have all been training for this, so I wish my fellow colleagues the best of luck.”
