POWER cuts and damage to trees are expected early tomorrow - with a risk of injuries from flying debris - as Storm Aileen brings gusts of up to 75mph.

The Met Office has issued an 'amber warning,' meaning people should be prepared for a brief spell of very strong westerly winds during the early hours as the Atlantic depression crosses the region.

It says damage to trees and perhaps buildings, as well as power cuts, are expected in locally severe gales, and flying debris and large coastal waves are possible, which could lead to injuries.
