Five “underused” recycling centres in south Bucks will close down next month.
The centres, in High Wycombe, Flackwell Heath, Tylers Green, Walters Ash and Lane End, will close in October after council bosses said more people were using kerbside collections to recycle their household waste.
Wycombe District Council spokesman Simon Farr said the number of people using the doorstep recycling service has gone up by 10 per cent since the Joint Waste Service was rolled out in 2013.
Following a review and consultation with district councillors, as well as town and parish councils, the following centres will close from Monday, October 2:
- Mendy Street, High Wycombe
- Flackwell Heath Community Centre
- Kingswood Car Park, Cock Lane, Tylers Green
- Beamangreen Wood Road, Walters Ash
- Edmonds Road Car Park, Lane End
There were plans to take away “well-used” recycling centres in Marlow amid that fears they were becoming fly-tipping hotspots, however these do not appear to be on WDC's list released today.
