CELEBRITY comedians were among the 1,200 guests who joined the fun at a charity open day.

The Children's Adventure Farm near Lymm hosted its 16th annual family event on September 24.

Famous patrons Jason Manford and John Thompson took part in the event and were joined by TV presenter Jenny Powell.

Visitors had the opportunity to play fairground games like the coconut shy, hook a duck and wheel of fortune.

And some animals from Stockley Farm also dropped by for people to pet, while the 99th Garrison sent over some troops for a military display.

Wolfie from Warrington Wolves had also been in training to take part in the annual mascot race at the event.

He took his place on the start line alongside Manchester City FC's Moonchester and Moonbeam, Hilary the cow from Stockley Farm and Joshua the giraffe from Joshua Tree.

But it was CAFT's own mascot Bobby who raced to first place.

Community fundraiser Rob Bashforth said: “This was such a fantastic day which was so well supported, we were delighted to be joined by so many visitors.

"We were especially delighted to be reunited with many of the fantastic children who have stayed with us this year, all of whom were so excited to visit the farm again with their families and carers.

"The weather was perfect and everyone had a wonderful time. We were overwhelmed with the support of local people, businesses and groups who made it a huge success.

"All of the money raised on the day will help us to change the lives of countless children who are in desperate need of a break."

More than £6,000 was raised for the charity, which provides holidays for disabled, terminally ill and disadvantaged children.
