More than 20 vintage buses will descend on High Wycombe on Sunday to commemorate 40 years since a prominent bus garage closed in the town.

An annual vintage bus running day has been taking place in Amersham for 29 years, but this year the popular event will also visit High Wycombe to mark four decades since the former London Transport/London Country bus garage at the foot of Marlow Hill was shut.

Until recently the former garage was occupied by Staples.

Up to 24 vintage buses - many of them around 60 years old - will depart from Eden bus station between 9.30am and 5.10pm on October 1 and is expected to be popular with the young and old alike.

At least three buses which operated in Wycombe more than 40 years ago will be returning to operate on former routes and High Wycombe mayor, Cllr Brian Pearce, will also be in attendance.

A programme, which costs £8, will be available to buy on the day and families will not have to pay a fare on the bus.
