Bucks Free Press:

Twice a year, the Free Press publishes the list of 0 and 1 rated restaurants to help pur readers make a more informed choice.

In February we published a guide ahead of Valentine’s Day – but many of those have since received improved ratings.

FHRS inspectors investigate how hygienically food is handled, the condition of the structure of the buildings and how the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.

BFP comment:

The Food Hygiene ratings always cause controversy, but certainly these ratings are in the public interest.

It is an informative guide to give our readership a chance to peruse the ratings.

There are an astonishing 49 restaurants across our patch which have a 0 or 1 rating which means these eateries are considered to need to make an urgent or major improvement to the conditions they work in by the authorities.

Lists in previous years have seen some of these places work exceptionally hard to rid themselves of this tag and climb the rankings to a level which will entice people to eat there.
