A MUM-of-two is urging people to try LiveWire’s stop smoking service for ‘Stoptober’ after she turned her life around by quitting cigarettes.

Rebecca Byrne, from Bewsey, signed up two years ago and has formed a close friendship with her stop smoking advisor, Ruth Armstrong. Rebecca said: “Giving up is a daunting experience, I knew it was going to be tough but I was also confident that I had the strength in myself. Life stuff happens and I have messed up before. I beat myself up about it and would come in thinking I’m going to get shouted at, but Ruth is really supportive.

“My health is so much better since I stopped. You wouldn’t believe how different the taste of food is, it’s a massive change.

“I've also joined a hot power yoga class. I had never done anything like that before. Now I’m just trying to bring balance to life."

Rebecca, 40, went back to smoking around 20 cigarettes a day after she managed to quit while pregnant.

But since stopping she said the money she saved has helped her stay on track and she is using the cash she would have spent on cigarettes to take her children on a family holiday.

The full-time mum is getting ready to go back to work and said her healthy new lifestyle has boosted her confidence: “I’m preparing for the job hunt. I know it can be difficult but I will overcome that because I know it’s just another goal.

“I would like to tell anyone who is thinking about stopping to just go and see an advisor and be put at ease. The support is there the whole way. Just take the first step, it’s worth it.”
