BUDDING scientists at Newchurch Community Primary in Culcheth are celebrating after the school was awarded a Quality Mark in recognition of its teaching.

The Warrington Road school was told the standard of learning in biology, physics and chemistry is high and teachers were praised for their hard work and creative approach to lessons.

Head teacher Jayne Narraway said: “Mrs Ayres, our science leader, has inspired not just the staff but the children to approach science in an exciting, innovative and creative way.

“The children and staff have worked extremely hard to create a long lasting vision of what science looks like at Newchurch.

“We are extremely proud to achieve this award which celebrates our unwavering commitment to teaching and learning in this area of the curriculum.”

The Quality Mark scheme helps celebrate schools with an outstanding commitment to subjects and which work hard to develop teachers’ skills.
