A Glasgow theatre has been lit up red, white and blue tonight for former Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne.

The Pavilion Theatre in Renfield Street is hosting the 50-year-old - better known as ‘Gazza’ - for two nights as the former footballer takes part in an interview, question-and-answer session, and photo opportunities.

‘An Audience With Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne’ has been described as a “special night” which gives audiences the chance to get up close and personal with the Rangers legend and listen to his many stories, live and unscripted.

The event is taking place at the venue tonight and tomorrow night.

Gazza played for Rangers between 1995 and 1998. In recent years, however, he has become more known for his battle with alcoholism.

The troubled ex-sportsman reduced TV viewers to tears in an open and candid interview in May.

Speaking to Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain, Gazza broke down as he labelled this year as his “worst ever.”

Recalling how he was “doing really well” in his battle against alcoholism, he then spoke about how the suicide of his 22-year-old nephew Jay Kerrigan a year ago set him back.
