A gruelling countryside race will celebrate its 10th birthday this month.

More than 300 runners, including Team GB runners and Olympic athletes, took part in the popular Frieth Hilly 10k and 5k race through Hambleden Valley last year.

Registrations for the race’s milestone anniversary run, which will take place on October 15, have opened, with entertainment, refreshments and a crèche with qualified staff, so parents can run while their little ones play.

Spokesman Jessica Jonzen said: “With its route through the beautiful Hambleden Valley, the Frieth Hilly is one of the most inspiring and challenging 10k and 5k runs in the area – It's not called the Hilly for nothing.

“Runners can put themselves through their paces whilst being cheered on by the wonderful local community, knowing that by entering the race they are raising funds for Frieth CEC Primary School.

“The sense of achievement and community spirit is second to none.”

The 10k race is open to 15-year-olds and above, while the 5k race is open to everyone from age 11.
