A disgraced former drama teacher at a top Wycombe school who was banned from the classroom for life after engaging in a sexual relationship with an ex-pupil has gone on to marry another former student, a national newspaper has revealed.
Former Wycombe Abbey School drama teacher Matthew McGowan, 38, left the UK for Bermuda amidst the sex scandal, which the Bucks Free Press reported last month following a disciplinary panel.
However, the MailOnline has today revealed that he returned to the island – where he previously taught at one of their top private schools, Warwick Academy School – to marry former pupil Aimee Bento, who is said to be an aspiring actress and singer.
The news outlet says he married Miss Bento - who he taught when she was a pupil at Warwick Academy - at the 'Unfinished Church' at St George's on July 21.
She apparently left Warwick Academy School in 2009, while Mr McGowan was a drama director at the school between 2007 and 2010.
He joined Wycombe Abbey School in 2011 and worked there until he resigned in 2016. An investigation into his behaviour was launched by the school and the police after the mother of a former student – a girl known only as pupil A – made a complaint.
The disciplinary panel – who went on to ban the teacher from the classroom for life – said it was “more likely than not” that sexual activity took place between Mr McGowan and the girl.
The pupil claimed that after she left the school – which costs up to £12,600 a term to attend - the pair would exchange naked photos and videos before their relationship became “very physical” around January last year, with sex acts taking place in his school office and his car.
He was “relieved of his duties” after his bosses read the story.
