RECIPES and stories which were collected around Oxford as part of a tour run by a city artists last year now have a special place online.

Last October the City Council took a giant mixing pot, built by Diana Bell, around city community centres and invited residents to talk about food and share their favourite recipes.

Now the team which took that idea forward has collected all the recipes and stories on a website made by an Oxford tech firm and a photographer.

Made With Joy has made www.mixingpot.org, which featured photos by Oxford's famous chip shop photographer, Kazem Hakimi. His photos have been exhibited at Modern Art Oxford.

To celebrate the mixing pot's first anniversary and the website's recent launch, the team wants members of the public to upload their favourite recipe on the site for a chance to win prizes.

They include a basketful of international and Oxfordshire food products and featuring in a photo shoot run by Mr Hakimi.

Each recipe submitted counts as one entry so the more entries submitted mean more chances to win. The competition will run until Sunday, November 12.

Executive board member for culture and communities Councillor Dee Sinclair said: “Food is such a powerful way of bringing people together. We want to tell the story of the people of Oxford through the food they love.

"We hope this will give everyone the chance to discover Oxford’s diverse communities through the food that’s important to them.”
