Brendan Rodgers’ wife has hit back at “speculation” over the death of her ex-husband.

Charlotte Searle has moved to address the passing of Steven Hind after it was reported three days ago that he took his own life in a hotel room.

Speaking on her behalf, Sam Hall, senior partner with Hall Brown Family Law, described how 35-year-old Charlotte believes that “speculation about the immediate circumstances of Mr Hind’s death is not only unhelpful and extremely upsetting to his family but may impede the investigation and inquest which is to follow.”

“However, she wishes to make clear her conviction that relations with Mr Hind had been positive in the months before this very tragic occurrence,” it said.

“Contrary to reports, contact arrangements had been agreed between them with great care and consideration and meant that both Mr Hind and Charlotte were able to make a valid and valuable contribution to their daughter’s life,” continued the statement, reports the Daily Record.

The lawyer also highlighted how the main priority is now the welfare of the pair’s daughter.

The developments come just days after The Sun reported how, according to friends, 35-year-old Steven “killed himself after failing to come to terms with his marriage break-up.”

Charlotte - from Merseyside - and Steven had been married for 17 months before splitting in 2013.

She then wed the 44-year-old Celtic boss in a small ceremony at Loch Lomond Golf Club in June of this year.
