A man has suffered injuries to his face after being fired at with a weapon in a High Wycombe alleyway.
Police were called just after midnight to the footpath next to Trinity Church on the London Road.
A man in his thirties had to be taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital for treatment after the incident, but he has since been discharged.
Officers are still on the scene and the alleyway has been cordoned off.
Police are still trying to find out what type of weapon was used and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
They would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at around midnight and are urging witnesses to call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
