Hundreds of people turned out to watch Wycombe Wanderers star Adebayo Akinfenwa flick the switch on High Wycombe’s Christmas lights yesterday (Thursday) evening.
The ‘Beast’ was invited to push the button on stage in Frogmoore to kick off the festivities, shortly after taking part in a special book signing session in Waterstones in the Eden Centre from 5pm following the release of his autobiography.
People lined up to get their copies signed outside the bookshop.
Starting from 4pm, the Christmas Lights Switch-On event included a parade through the town centre at 6.15pm, culminating in the main event where Akinfenwa turned on the lights at 6.45pm and was on hand to sign autographs and pose for photos.
Captain Jack Sparrow entertained crowds, who were also treated to live music, a street food market, fun fair and a performers’ parade along the High Street.
Free parking was provided in all Wycombe District Council car parks on the night for visitors.
