Tributes have poured in after a Bucks New University student was reportedly among four men killed in a mid-air crash between a helicopter and aircraft.

The horrific incident has left people devastated and shocked in the last few days, with one university student, who also studies air transport with commercial pilot training, paying his respects to the youngest victim of the disaster.

According to national reports, 18-year-old Saavan Mundae was training with his instructor, named by national media as Jaspal Barha, collided with the helicopter, also carrying two people.

The student the Bucks Free Press spoke to, who also studies at Bucks New University, said: “I am deeply saddened for the tragedy that has happened and all my thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected.”

He added that the incident has not deterred him from flying, saying: “If something is going to happen, it will. The training given allows pilots to have the skill sets needed to handle unforeseen situations.

“Every flight a pilot makes, we learn something from it.

“Whether it is a great landing or a near-miss, it is important to learn something from every flight.”

There has also been an outpouring of support from politicians, with Wycombe MP Steve Baker saying: “My heartfelt condolences go to the families and friends of the victims of this horrific air accident.

“This surprise loss of loved ones is an awful tragedy.”

He also praised emergency services, adding: “In these circumstances, the emergency services have a very tough job to do.

“We owe them our thanks.”

Bucks County Council leader Martin Tett tweeted the day after the accident: “Dreadful news re. air crash over Waddesdon yesterday. Was kept briefed by team.

“Thoughts with family of those who died.”
