Martin O’Neill is a late surprise and very welcome addition to the guest list for tomorrow night’s annual dinner staged by Wycombe Wanderers Ex-Players Association.

The former Blues’ boss will fly back from a meeting with the Republic of Ireland’s hierarchy in Dublin specially to attend the Adams Park event.

One of the most successful and popular managers in Wycombe’s history, having led them to Wembley three times and into the Football League during his five-year tenure between 1990 and 1995, Martin will link up again with a host of old friends.

He’s one of five ex-Wanderers’ bosses attending, joining Paul Lambert, Brian Lee, Peter Suddaby and Alan Gane as over 200 ex-players, staff and friends get together to celebrate their time with the club.

Lambert – making his first visit to Adams Park since leaving in 2008 - will be leading a strong contingent from his squad which reached the League Cup semi-final in 2007. Returning will be skipper Tommy Mooney and goal king Jermaine Easter, who set a record by scoring in every round of the tournament that year.

They’ll be joined by Tommy Doherty, Will Antwi, Sergio Torres plus club legends Keith Ryan and Steve Brown who were on the club’s backroom staff by then.

The second major celebration of the evening sees five of the survivors from Wycombe’s 1957 FA Amateur Cup squad which reached Wembley – Dennis Syrett, Mike Wicks, Jim Truett, Dennis Atkins and Len Worley – return to be honoured by the Ex-Players Association.
