With Christmas lights now illuminating most of the county's towns and villages, we take a look back at some of the stars who have flicked the switch on across south Bucks over the years.

The stars were out in force in High Wycombe in 2009 as hundreds of beaming smiles welcomed the switching on.

Former EastEnders star Shane Richie and X-Factor contestant Daniel Pearce pressed the plunger to bathe Frogmoor in the bright glow of thousands of fairylights.

The Birds of a Feather actress and star, Lesley Joseph, had the honour of turning the lights on in 2011.

She told the crowd she was ‘delighted to be back in Wycombe’, having performed at the Swan earlier in the year.

Wycombe Wanderers star Adebayo Akinfenwa - aka The 'Beast' - flicked the switch on this year, taking part in a book signing before the switch-on.

Marlow has also seen its own host of celebrities turn on the lights in the town. The likes of Tom Chambers, Tom Kerridge, Mary Berry and Russell Brand have illuminated Marlow in recent years. In 2015, it was the turn of Olympic legend, Sir Steve Redgrave, to do the honours.

Former Girls Aloud singer and Princes Risborough resident Sarah Harding wowed the audience in 2015 as she switched on the town’s Christmas lights. The event, which featured music and performances, started at around 5pm on Friday (December 4).

The switch on featured brand new lights in the Market Square, High Street and Bell Street for this year’s switch-on thanks to combined efforts from the Risborough Festival Committee, Market Group, Princes Risborough Town Council and Wycombe District Council.

Aylesbury panto stars Su Pollard and Jon Moses did the honours on November 25 this year and, after a successful switch-on in Marlow in 2016, national treasure Mary Berry was the special guest for Amersham's Christmas lights celebration on December 9.
