With Wycombe due to face Newport today, we take a look back at some of Wycombe’s most memorable games over the festive period.

December 29, 2001- QPR 4-3 Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe's promotion push was dented after a double sending-off on the stroke of half-time proved costly as they lost 4-3 at QPR.

Andy Thomson had opened the scoring for Rangers after 26 minutes when he rammed home the rebound after Karl Connolly's shot had been parried by Taylor.

But the visitors levelled within three minutes when Terrell Forbes fouled Andy Rammell.

Steve Brown converted the resulting penalty.

Kevin Gallen and Karl Connolly got on the scoresheet to give QPR a two-goal cushion after the break.

Dannie Bulman pulled one back from a free-kick after 64 minutes before Gavin Peacock added a fourth for the hosts.

Rammell's late penalty was not enough for the visitors.

December 26, 2007- Brentford 1-3 Wycombe

After a 6-0 thrashing at Stockport, Wanderers had bounced back with successive home wins over Morecambe and Macclesfield but faced a tougher proposition against a Bees side rejuvenated under new boss Andy Scott.

The hosts took the lead with a stunning strike from Glenn Poole, but a red card shown to Ben Starosta on the stroke of half-time acted as a catalyst for a second-half comeback from the Blues.

Sergio Torres curled home an exquisite equaliser before Scott McGleish tapped home following an error from home keeper Simon Brown, and the points were secured thanks to John Sutton’s header.

December 26, 2011- Wycombe 3-1 Exeter

A Marcello Trotta hat-trick helped Wycombe climb out of the drop zone with a 3-1 home victory over fellow strugglers Exeter.

Trotta, 19, extended his loan from Fulham this week and the 19-year-old Italian made it six goals in four games for Wanderers with a treble against the Grecians.

The hosts got off to a perfect start by taking the lead after 30 seconds when Anthony McNamee's low cross picked out Trotta and he finished with a first-time shot past goalkeeper Artur Krysiak.

Exeter drew level against the run of play midway through the first half when Danny Coles headed in Chris Hackett's corner at the far post.

But Trotta put the Chairboys back ahead in extraordinary fashion when he took the ball down the left before squeezing a shot past Krysiak from an acute angle.

Guillem Bauza then had a weak penalty saved by Nikki Bull early in the second half before Trotta completed his hat-trick with two minutes to go by sliding a shot underneath Krysiak.

December 26, 2016- Plymouth 3-3 Wycombe

Wanderers came back from 3-1 with half-an-hour to go to register a superb point against Plymouth Argyle.

Scott Kashket gave the visitors the lead when he curled a shot past Luke McCormick from the edge of the box.

Jordan Slew then turned in Oscar Threlkeld's cross to make it 1-1 before Jake Jervis slid the ball past Jamal Blackman to give the hosts the lead at the break.

Yann Songo'o headed home Graham Carey's corner after the break to give the hosts a two-goal advantage.

But Akinfenwa then side-footed in from close range before Myles Weston smashed home in the 90th minute to make it 3-3.
