A new show celebrating the life and music of rock legend Bob Dylan is set to roll into Chesham’s The Elgiva Theatre this month.

The Bob Dylan Story will recreate all the classic hits, from The Times They Are A-Changin’, Blowin’ in the Wind and Mr Tambourine Man, to Like A Rolling Stone, Subterranean Homesick Blues and Lay Lady Lay, Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door and many more, while telling some of the fascinating stories behind the songs.

The multimedia show will take audiences back to the 1960s – the era of anti-war and civil rights protests, and timeless music spearheaded by the likes of the Nobel Prize winner for literature, as he plotted his journey from revered protest singer to provocative rock n roll star to virtual recluse and back again, all in the space of a few short years.

Bill Lennon, who plays the main man in the show, said: “We wanted to give Dylan’s many fans the opportunity to hear the songs as they remember them, all in one sitting.

“And although many of Dylan’s songs were hits for other artists, from Hendrix’s All Along The Watchtower right up to Adele’s Make You Feel My Love, we remain true to the original versions.

“We are confident the show will have people digging out their old vinyl to sustain the nostalgia just that little bit longer.”

Speaking about what audiences could expect from the show, Bill, whose other credits include James Taylor in You’ve Got A Friend and Keith Richards in The Counterfeit Stones, said: “A show which is both poignant and rocking in equal measure, performed by genuine Dylan fans who take pride and pleasure in reproducing the songs exactly the way people remember hearing them.”

“Think of a Dylan concert in his full mid-sixties pomp and prime, throw in some carefully chosen visual projections to set the scene, a few stories about Dylan’s life and songs, and you’re getting very warm.”

The show will come to The Elgiva on Friday, January 19. To book tickets, call the box office on 01494 582900 or go online at www.elgiva.com.
