Groundwork for a new community room in High Wycombe has now started.
The new single-storey building - which will be built off-site before being transported to the playing fields off Shelley Road - will “complement” the current pavilion, Wycombe District Council said.
The building will be craned into place later this month. Throughout the works, access to the changing rooms, play area and pitches will be maintained.
Once completed, WDC will hand over the keys to Poets Corner Residents Association.
Cllr Graham Peart, Wycombe District Council’s cabinet member for community, said: “I’m excited that work is starting on this new facility, which will ultimately be used by residents and run by a community group.
"I’ll certainly be on site to watch the pieces being craned into place later this month."
The new community room is being funded by CIL funds allocated by High Wycombe Town Committee.
