Dozens of animal lovers joined their pet pooches for a fundraising walk in a bid to raise money for a Bucks dog charity.

Former Dr Who and Bucks Free Press columnist Colin Baker, who is patron of Stokenchurch Dog Rescue, was special guest at the event on Saturday in Turville.

The picturesque dog walk, which encompassed Turville, Fingest and Skirmett, was organised by Craig Mortimer and the team at The Bull and Butcher pub in Turville.

They aimed to raise enough funds to cover the charity’s vet bills at their busiest time, the month after Christmas.

The charity attempts to find suitable and loving homes for all the dogs in its care. The staff have so far managed to rehome more than 2,000 dogs since January 2011.

Debby Hicks, who works for the charity, said the walk was “amazing” and a “great success”.

She said: “Thank you to all who participated from the team and all the dogs at Stokenchurch Dog Rescue.”

After the walk was finished, dogs and their owners alike enjoyed treats at the pub to celebrate their efforts.
