We were treated to glamorous dining in a resort setting at the Crowne Plaza, writes Louisa Tunney.

The impressive approach to the Crowne Plaza, Marlow instantly suggests you are in for something extra special.

We dined at Glaze restaurant, which looks out onto the stunning lake and fountain.

Ordering from the à la carte menu, we chose the exotic King Scallops Ceviche, Pink Grapefruit Segments, Red Radish, Pea Shoots (£9.50) and the creamy and earthy Goats’ Cheese and Black Olive Ballantine, Heritage Tomatoes, Wild Rocket Leaves, Balsamic Reduction (V) (£6.50).

The flavours matched the immaculate and vibrant presentation, and we shared our dishes with delight.

Neither I nor my husband had ever had scallops served this way, however we willingly put our trust in the passionate maître d’ Pravesh.

From then on we didn’t order a thing without his advice, and he managed to choose every glass of wine or cocktail to our particular tastes.

I enjoyed a glass of Riesling which perfectly complimented the softness of the goats cheese, and for the main I had a glass of Californian Cabernet Sauvignon from Robert Mondavi wines.

Pravesh explained how they select this wine based on its excellence and value for money, as well as the interesting origin of the grapes being grown in the presence of volcanic ash.

The red wine perfectly enhanced the flavours in my main course of Truffle infused Corn-fed Chicken Supreme, Fondant Potato, Charred Baby Leeks, Thyme Jus (£21.50).

Again, the earthiness of the truffle brought out the creaminess in the chicken and the fondant potato and the star of the show for me were the charred baby leeks – giving another incredible level of flavour to the dish and a worthy accompaniment.

My husband went loyally for the Beef Fillet, Mushroom Ketchup, Slow Roasted Tomato, Triple Cooked Chips, Red Wine Jus (£28.50), and he also found the meat exceptional.

The dishes (as well as the wine) served at Glaze restaurant are brilliant creations, with innovative additions.

The mushroom ketchup has remained in my husband’s mind for days.

There is an evident commitment to giving each ingredient on the plate its own part in the show, and we were extremely grateful for this.

For dessert we recommend you do not leave without trying the Chocolate Fondant, Salted Caramel Ice Cream (£8.95). Even if you have to share, which we did not!

Beautifully presented, the dessert captures the essence of the experience on offer in this tucked away hotspot in Marlow.

Just off the M40 and M4 motorways, yet nestled in south Bucks, Crowne Plaza is a resort in its own right.

Our advice is simple, if you’re looking for a special venue to match whatever the occasion, look no further than Glaze restaurant.
