More people in one south Bucks town are having affairs than almost anywhere else in the country, new data has revealed.

Beaconsfield has been named the third most adulterous town in the UK, with 408 people in the town confessing to cheating on their partners – making up 3.4 per cent of its adult population.

The town raced ahead of High Wycombe, which was named Britain’s most adulterous town in 2016 and came in at number 16 this time around with 2,020 people – or 1.83 per cent of the adult population – admitting to having an affair.

Beaconsfield also beat other local rivals including Amersham (0.85 per cent), Aylesbury (0.85 per cent), Maidenhead (1.76 per cent) and Slough (0.65 per cent).

Milton Keynes was found to be one of the country’s most faithful towns, finding itself in 128th place out of a possible 150.

The ‘Infidelity Index’ was compiled by IllicitEncounters.com, a dating website for married people.

The site’s spokesman, Christian Grant, said: “Buckinghamshire has taken one step forward and two steps back.

“High Wycombe, the most adulterous town in the UK in 2016, has clearly made a conscious effort to rid itself of that title.

“The bad news is that Beaconsfield has ruined all of their hard work, coming in third overall.

“It’s possible that news of High Wycombe’s success spread, creating some sort of rivalry between the two towns, or maybe all of High Wycombe’s adulterers simply just moved, but whatever the reason, Buckinghamshire continues its annual tradition of being one of the UK’s most adulterous counties.

“We do tip our hat to Milton Keynes, though, as they’re clearly making more strides to rid themselves of infidelity; Beaconsfield and High Wycombe, take note.”
