The heartbroken family of a young girl who died after suffering an asthma attack while at school will mark her 16th birthday next week – and they hope to raise hundreds of pounds for charity in her honour.

“Much-loved and happy” eight-year-old Olivia Chandler, sadly died in 2010 after suffering an asthma attack at Ash Hill Primary School in High Wycombe.

Since her death, Olivia’s devastated parents, Teresa and Darren, have dedicated their lives to raising as much money as possible for Child Bereavement UK, the charity that supported them through their ordeal.

Last year, they set up their own charity in Olivia’s memory, called Life is Like a Butterfly and opened their own charity toy shop in Bull Lane at the end of last year.

Now, as the family prepares to mark Olivia’s 16th birthday on March 28, the family are trying to raise £800 for their charity. So far, £170 has been donated.

Writing on the JustGiving page in memory of their daughter, Teresa wrote: “Olivia was such a fun-loving caring child, her smile would light up a room. We would like to set up a charity in memory of Olivia for families that have lost a love one or a child to be able to go on a break and rebuild with their families and not feel guilty for doing it, but to remember their love one and the happy times and memories.”
