Changes are set to be made to High Wycombe’s bus station in a bid to increase capacity as dozens of new housing developments put strain on services.

The bus station, in the town centre, has seen the number of people visiting it increase over the years and another hike is expected once new developments – including the reserve sites – are built.

Buses becoming larger in recent years has also caused departure delays as they struggle to manoeuvre in the station.

Now, Wycombe District Council will spend £100,000 and the next six to eight months on looking at ways to improve the station.

A spokesman said: “This work will consider how the available space can be maximised using current best practice in bus station design and operation as well as review options to create additional bus stop locations.”

The measures – once decided – will be put in place “over the next few years”, the spokesman added.
