A pensioner from Gerrards Cross died on Christmas Day last year after suffering a fall at his care home a few days earlier, an inquest heard this week.

James Wright sadly died at Wexham Park Hospital after he was rushed in when he fell over at Buckingham House Care Home, off Oxford Road.

The court heard the 87-year-old retired structural engineer fell over after struggling to breathe on December 20.

Sheryl O’Ducusin, a nurse at the care home, said in a statement read out to the court that it was clear Mr Wright was not “too good” and that he was seen “gasping for air” moments before he fell.

He was rushed to Wexham Park on the same day and died a few days later, at 12.35pm on Christmas Day.

The medical cause of death was found to be a subdural hematoma, with a pulmonary embolism, cognitive cardiac failure, hypertension and stage four chronic kidney disease listed as contributing factors.

Senior coroner Crispin Butler recorded a narrative conclusion, saying it was not possible to ascertain if the hematoma was triggered by the fall.
