Rebellion Brewery, Missenden Abbey and Hypnos are just some of the successful companies in the county to become finalists in this year’s Bucks Business Awards.

Since entries for annual awards closed at the end of January, judges have spent months collating, deliberating and visiting some of Bucks’ most successful businesses and have now unveiled the list of finalists for this year’s awards, which are run by Bucks Business First.

Missenden Abbey has been nominated in categories including apprentice and young person employer of the year, best meeting, conference and events venue and best in the Chiltern and South Bucks district.

Pinewood Studios and Cloudy Group have also made the shortlist for apprentice and young person employer of the year, while Stoke Park and Waddesdon Manor are also in the line-up for best conference venue.

Dan Hancocks from CoCredo, Lloyd Wilcox from Medical Supermarket and Alison Deverill from Design Difference Ltd have been shortlisted for business leader of the year.

Bluebird Care, Hillclimb Garage in Downley and Rebellion Beer Co. Ltd in Marlow Bottom are up for an award for their customer service.

Silverson Machines in Chesham is in the running for best in the Chiltern and South Bucks district.

Meanwhile, Cube Video in Taplow, Design Difference Ltd in Princes Risborough and PCL Corporate Wear Ltd in Leighton Buzzard have all been shortlisted for the small business of the year award.

It is also a big year for fitness in the county, as FitLife Health Club Ltd and Gym Fit 4 Less are in the new business of the year category alongside Arrow Planning Limited.

In the Wycombe district category, judges were impressed with the relationship between Hillclimb Garage and their customers, while they lauded Princes Risborough-based Hypnos for its leadership and vision.

Seymour Taylor, an accountancy practice that celebrated its centenary in 2017, also wowed the judges, leading it to be shortlisted in the same category.

Wycombe District councillor Steve Broadbent, who helped select the ‘Best in Wycombe District’ shortlist, said: “Wycombe District Council is delighted to sponsor this award as part of our ongoing efforts to support a vibrant economy.

“There are very many businesses in the district providing quality products and services, so selecting the top three was a challenging task.

“The judges were particularly looking at the impact on Wycombe along with other factors that made a company one of the best in the district.

“The decision was very hard, but I am heartened that we have so many excellent examples of business leadership in Wycombe.

“We have three outstanding businesses shortlisted and I want to say congratulations to Hillclimb, Hypnos and Seymour Taylor on making it to the finals.”

The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at The Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury on Tuesday, May 22.
