Councillors have agreed to spend £35,000 on new Muslim burial vaults at High Wycombe’s cemetery as space is predicted to run out in the summer months.
Sadly, due to a harsh winter, the number of residents in the town passing away has increased dramatically, with the district council now needing to buy more concrete burial vaults to meet demand.
Councillors will buy 52 new vaults for the cemetery, it was agreed by the High Wycombe town committee, which are widely used by Muslims of a Pakistani heritage.
It comes as parts of the main cemetery in Hampden Road are expected to be full in less than two years, prompting Wycombe District Council to urgently look for a new site to meet demand in Queensway, Hazlemere.
