District councillors have been suspended from the Conservative group as part of a mystery investigation.

Councillors Roger Reed, Jacquetta Lowen-Cooper and Barry Harding have been told to step aside from the group which sits on South Bucks District Council (SBDC), pending investigation.

It is understood the councillors are still members of SBDC - however are excluded from attending meetings held by the Conservative group and are banned from its AGM in May.

It is unclear exactly why the decision has been made – however councillors have been told the topic will be discussed at June's group meeting.

Last month 'twin-hat' councillors, including Cllr Reed, stormed out of a district council meeting amid fury over an “undemocratic email” – which suggested those who supported plans for a ‘super council’ in Bucks were not permitted to take part in a major debate.

However it is not clear if the suspensions are related to the unitary discussions.

Beaconsfield Conservatives have been contacted for a comment, while SBDC said it is unable to comment on the suspensions.
