A church in Marlow wants to make its garden more accessible to the community.

The United Reform Church is planning to open up an entrance at Oxford Road, where there is currently a wall, to allow people with wheelchairs, prams or those “unsteady on their feet” to access the garden.

Church secretary Valerie Brownridge said it was a “quiet oasis” in the centre of Marlow and the church wanted more of the community to be able to access it.

She said: “It’s all a bit hidden at the moment. It’s such a lovely place to sit in. We want to keep it a nice place for people to come and enjoy it.

“We also want more people to use it. We want to keep it a secluded garden but also make it more accessible.”

She said the church would need to raise money before any work could take place, which is unlikely to be this year, she added.
