Monogamy means sharing your life with one person, but what if you shared your kitchen with 5.6 million?

A searing, sharp, state-of-the-nation comedy from one of the UK’s most exciting playwrights, Torben Betts, is coming to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.

Monogamy tells the story of Caroline Mortimer, the nation’s favourite TV cook, who has it all – a sparkling career, a big house in Highgate, a (golf) loving husband, smart kids and the best kitchen money can buy.

But beneath the immaculate furnishings, studio lighting and away from the glare of the ever-present cameras – Caroline must face the looming collision of living a private life in the public eye.

What happens when the cameras turn off and the truth comes out?

Olivier and Evening Standard award-winner Janie Dee will take on the role of Caroline.

Critically acclaimed for her roles on stage and screen, Dee has worked closely with many leading playwrights including Alan Ayckbourn, Michael Frayn and Harold Pinter and is currently starring in the National Theatre’s production of Follies.

Charlie Brooks and Patrick Ryecart will play Sally and Mike respectively. Brooks is best known for playing Janine Butcher in EastEnders on BBC1, for which she won the British Soap Award for villain of the year (2004) and best exit (2005).

She was also nominated for most popular newcomer and most popular actress at the National Television Awards.
Ryecart’s most recent TV credits include playing the Duke of Norfolk in The Crown (Netflix) and Sir Hugh Bodrugan in series one and two of Poldark (ITV).

His other extensive TV and film roles include Lord Wigram in The King’s Speech opposite Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter, the lead role of Captain Hilary Duff in The High Life (BBC 2), Crown Prince Rudolf in Lillie (ITV) and De Bernis in the 1987 film Casanova.

Jack Archer will play Leo, Genevieve Gaunt will take on the role of Amanda and Jack Sandle will appear as Graeme.

All three have an impressive list of credits, with Archer nominated for best male at the Off West End Awards for Quaint Honour (Finborough Theatre), Gaunt seen as Miss Teignmouth in the film The Mercy opposite Colin Firth and Rachel Wiesz, and Pansy Parkinson in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, while Sandle has appeared in Beowulf (ITV), The Tudors (Showtime), Spooks (BBC), Wire in the Blood (ITV) and Merlin (BBC).

Monogamy is directed by Alastair Whatley with design by James Perkins, lighting by Chris Withers and sound by Max Pappenheim.

The show will come to Aylesbury Waterside from May 15 to 19. For tickets visit www.atgtickets.com/aylesbury.
