A van driver was punched in the face and had his phone, bag and satnav stolen after stopping to exchange details with another driver after a minor crash in Chesham.

At around 9.30am on Friday (May 18), the 49-year-old man was driving a van along Fullers Hill and was involved in a minor incident with a silver BMW where their wing mirrors collided. The man driving the van stopped and got out to exchange details.

The driver of the BMW got out of the car and punched the van driver twice in the face before the victim ran away.

When he looked back, he saw the BMW had pulled up alongside his van and the driver got out, went into the van and stole his bag, satnav and phone before getting back into the car and driving off.

The driver of the BMW is described as a white, slightly tanned man in his early thirties with a large, muscular build.

He is 5ft10ins to 6ft tall, has medium length hair and a long face.

He was wearing a white t-shirt with blue stripes on the chest and mustard colour jogging bottoms.

The car is described as a silver 4x4 BMW, possibly an X5. It may be missing its right wing mirror.

Investigating officer PC Andreea Jurca, based at Amersham police station, said: "I am appealing for anyone that may have information that can assist with this investigation. For example, do you have any dash cam footage from the area on Friday morning or did you see a silver BMW X5 with a missing wing mirror? If so then please get in touch."
