Marlow’s outgoing mayor raised a staggering £10,000 for her chosen charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Councillor Jocelyn Towns said she was “delighted” to hand over the cheque to Macmillan’s Sally Carter at the Annual General Meeting on May 15.
The former mayor held numerous fundraising events throughout her year in post, including a fashion coffee morning at Danesfield House hotel and the long-running tradition of the mayor’s charity golf day – which saw a record-breaking 22 teams take part.
Cllr Towns also took on the challenge of Marlow’s annual Santa Fun Run in December last year, raising more than £2,000 for the cancer charity.
She said: “I completed the run in a really good time for me, thirty-six minutes and no stopping.
“I was delighted to hand over the cheque at the Annual Meeting to Sally Carter, the Macmillan representative for this area,” Jocelyn said. “Sally has been a great help throughout the year.”
