A festival that celebrates the community and all that is good in the town is set to return to Marlow for the fourth year.

The popular Love Marlow festival is an initiative of Churches Together to celebrate the best parts of the town as well as building community relationships.

Running from June 1 to 17, the festival will bring together the community in a series of exciting events and activities, and engage people from all walks of life.

This year will see a number of new events including an exhibition – Uprooted – on the millions of displaced people around the world at Christ Church URC, and the Marlow Repair Café at All Saints’ Church which will bring together volunteers who love to fix things and Marlovians who need something repairing, to fix it together.

A Visit with Cake will help those who feel lonely or isolated, with Christ Church URC members visiting their home and having a chat with homemade cake.

The neighbouring village of Little Marlow will also be included in the festival for the first time in the Love Little Marlow Nature Walk, which organisers say is a two-hour walk on flat level paths around the Spade Oak woods.

The kids' fun cycle ride, Marlow Beerfest and lunchtime ukulele serenade will make a return, with Longridge Activity Centre also hosting a number of water sports and activities for youngsters.

Event co-ordinator Paddy Gallaugher praised the community for its support, saying the festival would not be possible without it.

He said: “We continue to be surprised by the number of local businesses and voluntary organisations that are keen to contribute in one way or another, either by giving financial support or by having their staff volunteer as helpers at various events.

“We simply couldn’t manage to do the 50 different activities spread over the two-and-a-half weeks of the festival if we didn’t have this excellent support.

“We are also grateful to so many people who respond to the opportunities and go out of their way to join in the activities, and thank Longridge Activity Centre for providing a series of different watersports for young people to enjoy.”
