Marlow is set to have a double yellow line overhaul in a bid to make the town a “much better place in terms of congestion”.

Bucks county and Wycombe district councillor for Marlow, Alex Collingwood, said in a chamber meeting this week that the town’s yellow lines would be inspected by county council officials under a health and safety scheme to ease congestion in the town.

He said: “There are about 32 schemes we went through and that includes places like Gossmore Lane, Station Road, down by Great Marlow School, Gipsy Lane – all those pinch point places – and all the way through the centre of Marlow as well – to try and make it so that traffic flows.

“[The lines] would be on street corners.

“Using Seymour Park Road’s example, people park at both ends. Can’t see, can’t get out, can’t traffic and it’s the main cut through for most people who live in Marlow.

“Those two ends are being added to the health and safety schemes as well to make sure business flows.

“Money can’t go to Marlow because all you do is sit in traffic.”

It comes after double yellow lines were installed in Fieldhouse Lane earlier this year as a “temporary traffic regulation order” in a bid to stop people “parking illegally” on corners.

It sparked a backlash from residents who were worried the move would force drivers to move away from that part of the business park and to the surrounding residential streets.

Cllr Collingwood said the county council would be releasing more details about the scheme in due course.
