A retrospective planning application has been submitted for a tepee at a Marlow pub.

Greenbush Ltd wants to retain the “tepee structure” in the public garden area of The Royal Oak, in Frieth Road, with planning inspectors saying the “low-level development” would “maintain the openness of the Green Belt, preserve the area of attractive landscape and not harm the historic setting of the Grade-II listed building”.

The shape of the tepee looks like a nine-sided polygon with an 8.5 metre width, an overall height of 5.5 metres.

The covering letter submitted with the application says the tepee was put up in May 2017 on a temporary basis, but the owners have now decided to keep it on a permanent fixture.

It is used for private functions in the garden and is within green belt land and an area of attractive landscape.

Planning officers say the tepee will “maintain the open character and visual amenity of the surrounding green belt land”.

The plans will be discussed at a Wycombe District Council planning meeting next Wednesday (June 27)
