Celebrity MasterChef winner Angellica Bell wowed the crowds at a High Wycombe shopping centre at the weekend as the popular Eden food festival and Big Bucks Bake Off returned.

Budding bakers showcased their cake creations at the Eden Shopping Centre before the star chef sampled the delicious homemade delights and chose her ultimate winners.

The packed shopping centre was transformed into a vibrant and bustling food market once again as thousands of shoppers also took advantage of free food from a variety of restaurants including Nandos, Wenzel's Bakery, Bill’s Restaurant and Wagamama.

Following a taste test by an expert panel including Angellica, executive chef Will Shaw and last year’s winner, Jackie Finn, the top Big Bucks Bake Off prize was given to Aisha Tariq for her spectacular summer berries cake, made with blueberries and cream cheese frosting.

As a shocked Aisha picked up her award, she said: It was a last minute entry – I thought, why not? I didn’t think I would win because all the other cakes looked amazing.”

Angellica praised Aisha’s cake, describing it as “beautiful”.

A red velvet summer dream cake, decorated with fresh berries and cream, was whipped up by Juliet Jones and placed in second by the judges.

In third was Vicky Stepniewski, who created an impressive summer strawberry and white chocolate drip cake.

For the first time, a ‘highly commended’ award was also given out, with Rebecca Sadler – who placed second in last year’s contest – impressing the judging panel with her Royal Wedding-inspired, white chocolate, elderflower and lemon layered cake.

Angellica said: “Thank you to everyone who got involved – it is really nerve-wracking putting your heart and soul into something and having people judge you.

“All the cakes were fantastic, different flavours and styles and I really appreciate the hard work everyone put in. It was really difficult to choose – they were all really tasty.”

The audience were also treated to food demonstrations by Angellica and food writer and chef Urban Rajah, who both shared their top tricks and tips.

Slices of all the shortlisted Bake Off cakes were sold on the day to hungry passers-by, with proceeds going to charity.
