A new discovery trail based on locations used in popular TV detective series Midsomer Murders has been launched in Marlow.

The 17-mile (27km) trail starts in the town and winds its way through the south Bucks countryside, going through Frieth, Lane End, Fingest and Hambledon.

South Bucks has frequently featured in the ITV drama, with filming taking place in Beaconsfield Old Town, Penn and at Bekonscot village in the past.

The trail has been put together with funding from Wycombe District Council (WDC) and support from Visit Buckinghamshire in a bid to encourage visitors and residents to “explore the delights” of the local area and “discover hidden gems”.

Cllr Graham Peart, WDC’s cabinet member for community, said: “The new Midsomer trail is really fun to do and even though I know our district really well, it helped me to discover some new hidden gems.

“I can thoroughly recommend it as a great day out to do with family, friends or visitors.”

“Tourism initiatives like this not only add to the ‘feel good’ factor of a place, but also play an important part in supporting local businesses by bringing new customers.”
