The land which houses a £1.5 million running track is up for sale, it has been revealed.

The Little Marlow Trust is selling the land on which the popular athletics track sits, in Westhorpe Lane, and the land surrounding it, Wycombe District Council (WDC) has said.

Spokesman Catherine Spalton said: “The Little Marlow Athletics Complex itself is not for sale and is now being run by Serco, who also operate Bisham Abbey.

“We have a 30 year lease for the land the athletics complex is on with the Little Marlow Trust.

“The trust is now selling this land – and surrounding land – and our lease and all of its obligations will transfer to the new owner.”

It comes after the running of the track was taken over by the More Leisure Community Trust, part of Serco, earlier this year, after it was deemed “too expensive” to run by the Adventure Learning Foundation (ALF).

At the time the ALF said it was unable to continue looking after it, after a number of things “failed and broke” over time.

Norman Weiss, a trustee at the Little Marlow Trust, said the trust could not give out any more information "for the time being" as matters are still ongoing.
