More than 150 Bucks youngsters will perform in a special 75th anniversary production of the classic American musical, Oklahoma!
Wycombe Swan Summer Youth Project returns with a new adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical from August 9 to 11.
As refreshing and thrilling as the day it was written, Oklahoma! overflows with well-known songs including I’m Just A Girl Who Cain’t Say No, Surrey With A Fringe On Top, Kansas City, People Will Say We’re In Love and the rousing title song itself.
Celebrating the vigour of America’s pioneering spirit, the Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic follows Curly and the girl of his dreams, Laurey, as they travel down love’s highway on an extremely bumpy surrey ride.
Now in its 26th year, the Wycombe Swan’s Spring Youth Project is an annual local theatrical extravaganza which involves local young people in the staging and performing of a full-scale musical in just two weeks.
Curly McLain will be played by High Wycombe’s Adam Richards, while Aaron Wood, also from the town, will play Jud Fry.
Bethany Hines from Hazlemere will play Aunt Eller, Maddie Smith from Bolter End will play Ado Annie Carnes and Kristian Price from Flackwell Heath will play Will Parker.
Daniel Stubbs Benbow from Beaconsfield will take on the role of Ali Hakim and Adam Lipinski, from High Wycombe, will play Andrew Carnes
Tickets for this year’s production range from £15 to £17 and are available online at wycombeswan.co.uk or by calling 01494 512 000.
