A consultation into the delivery of short breaks for people with disabilities will come to a close this week.

Anyone affected by short breaks offered by Bucks County Council (BCC) has until Friday, August 10 to have their say on how the future of the service is shaped.

In June BCC announced plans to overhaul the service in the face of limited funds after some carers revealed they reached “crisis point” before help was offered.

New plans could see the number of residential breaks reduced, however BCC insisted services will not be cut “where there is an assessed level of need”.

Short breaks allow children and adults with disabilities to spend time away from home and develop independence, which in turn allows their primary carers to have a rest from caring responsibilities.
