A Cookham resident is celebrating after winning £30,000 thanks to his lucky postcode.

Spencer Webb landed the cash when his postcode was announced as the winner of the People’s Postcode Lottery’s (PPL) Street Prize on August 18.

Mr Webb, 29, was shocked to see the PPL team standing outside his door with a golden envelope in hand and was “totally flabbergasted” when he discovered that he had scooped such a large sum.

He said: “This is totally unbelievable – I never win anything. I had no idea what to expect so this is a fabulous surprise and it feels amazing.”

Mr Webb says he plans to treat himself to an extra special present when he celebrates his 30th birthday later this year.

He said: “I’ve had my eye on a watch so I’ll definitely be getting that as a nice birthday present to myself now. It’s so exciting.

“My advice to anyone thinking about joining would be to just go ahead and do it because it’s £10 a month and this could happen to you.”

PPL ambassador Matt Johnson presented Mr Webb with his prize, saying: “I couldn’t be happier for Spencer – I’m sure he’ll have the best time spending the cash and it will certainly give him a 30th birthday to remember.”

The PPL has raised £330 million for more than 4,400 good causes, with SportsAble receiving £18,468 last year to allow it to expand its wheelchair basketball programme.
