A village police station has closed its doors after being put up for sale two years ago.

The Hazlemere Neighbourhood Team has been relocated to Princes Risborough police station, with the Penn Road station now closed in a bid to save money.

Thames Valley Police said the Hazlemere team will retain the geographical area of Hazlemere, Tylers Green, Loudwater and Flackwell Heath.

It said in an earlier statement: “In times of austerity, Thames Valley Police continues to focus on reducing non staff costs and protecting our people.

“The police station is the base for the Hazlemere neighbourhood team but is not open to the public and does not have a front counter.

“As an underutilised building in need of some maintenance, the police station does not represent a cost-effective use of public money.”

Chief inspector Graham Hadley, deputy commander for the Wycombe area, said the force remains “committed” to keeping its communities safe and the move “in no way means it is withdrawing from its communities”.
