Sporting course goes online
BUDDING golfers who are keen to work on their sporting four-te can now practice their swings via the internet rather than on the green.
Bucks New University has teamed up with the Golf Club Managers' Association (GCMA) to offer an on-line training scheme for students wanting to work on their bogies and birdies.
From January 2008 pupils will be able to log on to start their studies in the Certificate in Golf Club Management.
The course is aimed at anyone already working in the golf club management industry or those wanting to make a career move. Subjects on the course are split into separate modules and include the game of golf, golf and people, golf and the law and business development in golf clubs.
Professor Chris Kemp, executive dean for the faculty of enterprise and innovation, said: "At Bucks New University we are continually looking at innovative ways of delivering relevant education to new generations of learners through our work-based programmes.
"Our partnership with GCMA provides a winning combination. We can support golf club management employees with this new course, which is designed to fit with their working lives while complementing our foundation and honours degree courses in sports management and golf studies."
But students don't just have to learn everything through their screens as the course also offers work experience placements and practical classes.
