A MAN has appeared in court charged with threatening to kill a teenager and attacking him with a machete.
Anthony Taylor, 42, who is unemployed and from Clacton, appeared in court on Monday accused of assaulting a 16-year-old boy from Chingford.
He was arrested following a disturbance in a Tesco carpark in Clacton on Saturday night. Police say the teenager managed to escape without injury despite being struck in the throat and stomach by the machete.
Mr Taylor appeared at Colchester Magistrates Court charged with one count of common assault, one of affray, one of threats to kill and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon.
He was released on bail to appear again at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on February 15.
